heptane, 1,7-diiodo- - Introduction
1,7-diiodohepeptane is an organic compound with the chemical formula C7H15I2. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of this compound:
Nature:
1,7-diiodoheptane is a colorless liquid with a strong pungent smell. It is insoluble in water at room temperature, but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and benzene.
Use:
1,7-diiododeptane is often used as a reagent for organic synthesis reactions, such as borane reaction of olefins, substitution reaction of alcohols, etc. It is also used as an intermediate in the study and preparation of other organic compounds.
Preparation Method:
1,7-diiodoheeptane can be obtained by reacting 1,7-octanediyne with hydrogen iodide. The 1,7-octadiyne is first heated in the presence of cesium chloride to produce 1,7-dicarbotetrayne heptane. The 1,7-dicarbotetrayne heptane is then reacted with hydrogen iodide to give 1,7-diiododeptane.
Safety Information:
1,7-diiododeptane is irritating and corrosive. Appropriate protective measures should be taken during operation, such as wearing gloves, goggles, etc. It should be kept in a sealed container during storage, away from fire and oxidant to prevent accidental fire and explosion. If inhaled or exposed to 1,7-diiodohepeptane, move immediately to a well-ventilated place and seek medical help.
